Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar’s for leading Actors in the movie, “Silence of the Lambs”, and Thelma & Louise won best screenplay. The top paid actors of the year were Kevin Costner, Mel Gibson, Robin Williams, Julia Roberts and Goldie Hawn. The top songs of 1992 were “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men, “Baby got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot and “Jump” by Kriss Kross. Bill Clinton won the US Presidency against incumbent George Bush. In sports, 16-year old Tiger Woods debuted in a PGA event to become the youngest player ever to play in the PGA. The Toronto Blue Jays triumphed as the first foreign franchise to win the World Series. The winter and summer Olympics were featured in the same year and included baseball for the first time. The US men’s basketball team became the “Dream Team”. South Africa was allowed to participate for the first time since 1960 and Chinese diver, Fu Mingxia, became the youngest Olympic gold medal winner ever at the age of 13.
