In 1991. Lou Sullivan, gay transman, author and activist passed away at age 40.The no frills TV cooking show, “Cooking at the Academy”, was produced by San Francisco's California Culinary Academy and KQED. In just four months, a cookbook featuring dishes from the series sold more than 90,000 copies.  The New York Giants won the Super Bowl by a 1 point margin over the Buffalo Bills. 1991 signaled the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union (USSR) after Gorbachev’s resignation allowing Boris Yeltsin to become the first freely elected president of the Russian Republic. Apartheid is repealed in South Africa.  Hurricane Bob hit New England twice causing damages of $1.5 billion USD.  The vaguely gay cult classic, My Own Private Idaho, starring River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves was released. The top grossing movie of the year was Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The three top billboard hits were (3) Gonna Make You Sweat / CC Music Factory (2) I Wanna Sex You Up / Color Me Badd and (1) Everything I Do / Bryan Adams.
