Kai

Kai (he/him/his) is a queer transman who began transition in 1995.  Kai is one of the Stealth: A Transmasculine Podcast hosts who shares his experience of coming out as trans in the mid-90’s, and finding a community of brothers. Kai talks about the unanticipated issues related to disclosure that come up in both his professional and personal lives. He began transition while working at a gym where he wrote a letter to 500+ members letting them know about his transition, name change and pronouns. As Kai’s career progressed, he disclosed his gender identity to fewer people outside the queer and trans community. He talks about the level of isolation and discomfort he experienced over the past 20+ years, and how he came to the decision to reintegrate into the community on his own terms.
