Marty
Marty first identified as a trans man in 1993, but waited seven years to take his first shot of testosterone. He identifies as a father first and foremost and began his transition after the birth of his first child. He is now the father of four wonderful sons. He is a teacher and a storyteller. He is perfectly content to be a man in the world, but advocating for youth in the schools has drawn him into outwardly identifying as trans more and more. He dreams of building a beloved community where everyone can be appreciated for being themselves, unapologetically. In his interview, Marty shares his reasoning for using the term “Dead Name”, the joys of his Trans-Gender Reveal Party and the struggles and successes of coming out to his family.
